Here is an overview of a day at FiddleMania! (Subject to change slightly)
9:00 - 10:00 Masterclass
In a masterclass, each student in the group will play a solo tune (of their own choice) for the instructor. The instructor will then help the student with some constructive criticism. Each day, the students will rotate and see a different faculty member, so as to get many different viewpoints as to how to improve their playing.
10:00 - 10:45 Technique class (Teacher A/E)
10:45 - 11:30 Technique class (Teacher B/F)
11:30 - 12:15 Technique class (Teacher C/G)
(12:15 - 1:15 Lunch)
1:15 - 2:00 Technique class (Teacher D/H)
Each faculty member at FiddleMania will have differnt things about fiddle music to teach students. Some examples of past technique classes have been: Celtic Style, Ear Training, Bluegrass Style, Old Tyme Style, Improvisation, World Fiddle Music, Slow Tunes, etc.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be like this, so each student group will rotate through each teacher twice, in order to follow up on the concept presented in the first class.
2:00 - 3:00 Performance Groups
Each student will be allocated a Performance Group. They will spend an hour each day working on some tunes to perform on the final Student Gala Concert (see below for more detail about concerts) with one designated coach for the week.
3:00 - 5:00 Extras
Each student will be given 2 extra-curricular "coupons". These coupons will entitle students to 1 lesson or extra instrument class of their choosing. These classes will work on a sign-up basis. Students can also form "open performance groups" of their own to perform on the Student Gala Concert on Friday night.
