FiddleMania!
Daily Life!

Here is an overview of a day at FiddleMania! (Subject to change slightly)

9:00 - 10:00 Masterclass
In a masterclass, each student in the group will play a solo tune (of their own choice) for the instructor. The instructor will then help the student with some constructive criticism. Each day, the students will rotate and see a different faculty member, so as to get many different viewpoints as to how to improve their playing.

10:00 - 10:45 Technique class (Teacher A/E)
10:45 - 11:30 Technique class (Teacher B/F)
11:30 - 12:15 Technique class (Teacher C/G)
(12:15 - 1:15 Lunch)
1:15 - 2:00 Technique class (Teacher D/H)
Each faculty member at FiddleMania will have differnt things about fiddle music to teach students. Some examples of past technique classes have been: Celtic Style, Ear Training, Bluegrass Style, Old Tyme Style, Improvisation, World Fiddle Music, Slow Tunes, etc.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be like this, so each student group will rotate through each teacher twice, in order to follow up on the concept presented in the first class.

2:00 - 3:00 Performance Groups
Each student will be allocated a Performance Group. They will spend an hour each day working on some tunes to perform on the final Student Gala Concert (see below for more detail about concerts) with one designated coach for the week.

3:00 - 5:00 Extras
Each student will be given 2 extra-curricular "coupons". These coupons will entitle students to 1 lesson or extra instrument class of their choosing. These classes will work on a sign-up basis. Students can also form "open performance groups" of their own to perform on the Student Gala Concert on Friday night.

Concerts!

Here are some of the extra events that take place outside of the daily schedule:

Sunday (August 16) - Orientation, Faculty Concert and Icebreaker Party!
All students will congregate in the hall on Sunday afternoon, for orientation. Ben will go through all details of the schedule and such. Immediately following orientation will be a thrilling Solo Faculty Concert, featuring each faculty member performing a few choice tunes for the students. After that, all students and teachers will take part in some team building fun icebreaker games. This day is always a hit.

Wednesday (August 19) - Faculty Group Show - 7:30 PM - Admission by Donation
Students are given free access to a thrilling show featuring select bands of the faculty. 2009's bands have yet to be announced.

Friday (August 21) - 10:00 AM - Group Jams!
Students will be able to attend either a beginning/intermediate or an advanced jam, where we'll just get together and have a good time playing some tunes! We'll merge the jams at the end and we'll all play together!

Friday - 1:00 PM - Solo Recitals!
Students have been working all week on solo tunes of their own choice. They've been having masterclasses daily. They've been possibly signing up for lessons. Now it's time to perform. Solo recitals are always thrilling. It's great to see how far a student can come in one week.

Friday - 7:30 PM - Student Gala Concert! - Admission by Donation.
This wonderful night is for featuring the work of the performance groups all week - both FiddleMania's pre-formed coached performance groups, and student-run "Open Performance Groups". This is the culmination of an always thrilling week.
